ZnO Wafer Applications
Wide bandgap semiconductor materials, particularly Gallium Nitride, have attracted much attention in recent years for emerging applications in optoelectronic devices, high frequency electronics, and radiation hardened space electronics. Optoelectronic applications include UV detectors and sensors, solid-state lighting, blue light emitting diodes (LED) and laser diodes in the blue-to-ultraviolet regions.
These technologies being developed are forecasted to generate a multi-billion dollar market. The major obstacle for the realization of high quality devices is the lack of a native substrate for GaN. Cermet grows bulk ZnO crystals that are ideal for GaN epitaxy.
